" Every two years the Fortezza da Basso hosts the International Arts Biennale in Florence. It was started in 1997 by brothers Pasquale and Piero Celona as the need was felt for an important international venue that would make it possible for talented career artists to exhibit their latest works in a panoramic survey of contemporary art. The Florence Biennale is uniquely open to expansion and diversity as participants are chosen without prejudice as to style, theme or school. If you are in Florence in December then don't miss this chance to experience fresh, new art in a unique surrounding.

" Arte Studio, which has been working for years in the world of Modern and Contemporary Art, in the last years has placed Florence in the centre of it’s exhibitions, helping to renew the image of the city as point of aggregation of artists from all over the world. Since the first review of contemporary artists in 1986, which was dedicated to the exhibitions by the Masters of the 900’s and other tuscan artists: from Virgilio Guidi and Giorgio De Chirico in 1986, to a collective exhibition by 35 young artists selected by Mario Penelope and Piercarlo Santini in 1987. On 1990 organizes an exhibition of Amedeo Modigliani’s drawings (see photo) at Palazzo degli Affari and in the Istituto Francese di Cultura, in 1991 makes a show to celebrate the 80 years of Aligi Sassu. From 1995 with the name “International Contemporary Art” Arte Studio starts the great series of shows dedicated to the Masters of early 900’s that contributed to the birth of Biennale Internazionale dell’Arte Contemporanea in Florence 1997. Thanks to the organizational efforts of Pasquale and Piero Celona, the International Jury and the Scientific Committee, the Biennale has come to it’s fourth edition. The fifth edition of the Florence Biennale will take place in the historical Fortezza da Basso from 3 to 11 december 2005. The Biennale artists coming from all over the world, despite their differences of language and faith, found a common language in art to communicate their cultural values. For this reason, in 2001 The United Nations recognized the Florence Biennale as an official partner in the program “Dialogue Among Nations”. In this difficult times for humanity, art expresses a hope: "... "opens new doors for learning, understanding, and peace among people and nations.”
